So now I know why Jared was even HUGER than normal ("I want him now. He's larger") in that last episode: he was trying out for the new Conan!

And, while I want for both Jensen and Jared to be truly successful in their careers, I'm really kind of glad he didn't get it. Maybe Jared would have brought a new depth of emotion to the character, but more likely it seems like he would be typecast as the big beefy guy.

Other reason why I'm glad Jared didn't get it? BECAUSE JASON MOMOA DID.

Holy shit, you guys, I can't even express how excited I am about this--both for Jason, because I miss the guy and I'm sure he needs work, and for the awesomeness this lends to the movie.

Seriously, Jason MF Momoa is just about perfect for this role. I can't wait.

I've been having a hard time watching TV synchronously with when it airs, so I feel like I've been missing out on a lot of the post-episode squee for several of my favorites. But! I have been watching stuff and keeping my eye on the flist.

And in other upcoming exciting fandom news...I'm insanely stoked for festivids (like yuletide but for vids in small/under-represented fandoms instead of fic). I submitted a bunch of TV and movie recommendations that I would love to see anyone make vids of. And I'm excited to snag someone else's prompt myself. I've kind of needed a prompt/challenge to get my vidding juices going again, and this one looks delightful.

Other upcoming challenges that I will not be doing myself but am still insanely excited about: j2_everafter is back!!!



Oodles and oodles of delightful Disney-fied J2 awesomeness. This is the challenge that brought us such classics as Keepsake--omg best fucking fic EVARRRRR by indysaur, The Incredibles AU by ignited, and the cracktastically delightful Cinderella update by obsessed1 and juice817. Think of all the new gems to come!

This is the kind of stuff that I LOOOOOVE in fandom. You can vote for your favorite characters in different comedy, drama, scifi and teen fandoms (and when you don't recognize fandoms/characters, you can just click a bunch of random buttons, woohoo!). Then the steel cage madness will ensue!



My girl Kara is hardcore pwning for BSG fandom. CJ Cregg and Josh Lyman are really close. Bret is beating my boy Jemaine by a mere handful of votes. Faith is getting whupped by Buffy and Spike. Logan and Weevil are both getting spanked by Veronica. And WHERE are the Sam girls? Dean is totally beating him right now?!?

The Mr and I are still catching up on Season 5 of Stargate Atlantis, slowly but surely, and tonight's viewing afforded me a surprise cameo by one of my favorite lesser known actresses: Janina Gavankar.

I first saw her in the Microsoft test project for a search engine with an actress providing dialogue/feedback as part of an interactive interface: www.msdewey.com . Working with the sexy librarian/dominatrix theme, Ms Dewey would help you narrow down your search terms and crack the whip (literally) if you were taking too long or goofing off.

Then I saw Ms Gavankar as the beautiful and sassy Papi on the L Word and I fell massively in girlcrush. We'll just handwave the decision to pick an actress of Indian descent to play a Hispanic character and focus on the awesomeness of Papi. She was sexy, outspoken and completely irresistable. She was great as a rival for Shane (see icon) and she was great as a character in her own right.

So, imagine my delight when she pops up as a random military extra, Sargeant 'Dusty' Mehra, in a highly femslash-friendly all-female away team on SGA. Loved it!

I've succumbed to yet another form of fancrack...Stargate Atlantis.

That's right Gays in Space finally made an appearance on my screen and now I am marathoning season 1 and drooling over my new teevee boyfriends Joe Flanigan (I've always known he was cute, but seriously that smirking just kills me dead) and David Hewlett (Rodney McKay is the secret nerdy teddy bear twin of my beloved Chief Tyrol fyi). Haven't even gotten to the stuff with hottass Momoa yet and I'm already hooked.

Not just pretty faces either and cheesy special effects either, because the show actually has some good writing sometimes. The episode that actually clinched it for me was Childhood's End. Dystopian young adult cultures FTW! It was like Mad Max + Logan's Run + Lowry's "The Giver, and I totally loved every cracktastic second of it.

I'm not usually much of a meme-girl, but this one coincides perfectly with my new national holiday: celebrating the birth of my teevee girlfriend Katee Sackhoff.
