I'll post a more extensive Dear Festividder letter later, but I'm super squee-ful about festivids sign-ups.

If you've ever considered festivids, you should give it a shot! It has been a source of major joy on both the giving and receiving ends for several years, and one of my favorite fannish things in general.

festivids reveals are up! I made two vids this year Express Yourself and Little Bad Girl.

Festivids reveals always make me feel kinda like Willow: I knew it! I knew it! Well, not 'knew it' in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know.

I hadn't guessed my matched vidder, but this year I was pretty damn sure who my treater was. Who else knows me that well and is awesome enough to create such a delightful vid? THANK YOU DEI, I <3 YOU FOREVER AND EVERS!!!

I just got mine in the mail and I'm soooooooo excited to sit and watch them all. Yay for shiny shiny vids!

Suffice it to say that I am VERY squeeful about festivids this year--both the giving and receiving ends.

So I definitely have limitations as a vidder. I can do humor, I can do smut, I can do action (I can do crack!smut!action...) but not so much with the thinky thoughts or the big feelings. I get vid bunnies for sad, deep songs but they never make it past storyboarding for me.

But you know who rocks the fuck out at vidding Deep Winchester Emotions? Loki! So I was thrilled to no end to win her at the last sweet charity round. Behold her neverending talent: How Low by secretlytodream

So now I know why Jared was even HUGER than normal ("I want him now. He's larger") in that last episode: he was trying out for the new Conan!

And, while I want for both Jensen and Jared to be truly successful in their careers, I'm really kind of glad he didn't get it. Maybe Jared would have brought a new depth of emotion to the character, but more likely it seems like he would be typecast as the big beefy guy.

Other reason why I'm glad Jared didn't get it? BECAUSE JASON MOMOA DID.

Holy shit, you guys, I can't even express how excited I am about this--both for Jason, because I miss the guy and I'm sure he needs work, and for the awesomeness this lends to the movie.

Seriously, Jason MF Momoa is just about perfect for this role. I can't wait.

You guys, I'm so excited! I haven't gotten my assignment yet (and I am most certainly NOT compulsively checking my email to see if it has magically shown up in the least two minutes...) but I'll have it by Friday at the latest.

In the meantime, I've been listening through my iPod and floating ideas for all eight of the fandoms/sources that I offered. I've got at three to nine song ideas for each fandom now!!!

This has been such an awesome mental exercise for me as a vidder. I normally listen to music with my mental-visual filter firmly in place for the fandoms I have vidded for/plan to vid for (BSG, SPN, Buffy-verse, SGA, and Dollhouse). It has been unexpectedly liberating AND exciting to float through all of my music with eight new fandoms in mind. I know I'll narrow it down to one fandom once I get my assignment, but now I'm really excited about all the possibilities for new vids. Particularly the ideas I've had for movie vids, because the source footage is short enough that I could make ALL of those vid bunnies if my energy/muse/time all balances out.

I'm just crazy excited to be this excited about vidding again. I've had a slump for the last couple of months where several bunnies have been bumping around in my head and none of them have quite had the urgency/juice to make it to a completed product.

ETA: I have my assignment and it is aaaaaaaawesome! *FLAIL*

I have seen four or five Club Vivid ones so far, but I still need some time to absorb and roll around in the awesomeness before I start making rec lists.
