I'm not usually much of a meme-girl, but this one coincides perfectly with my new national holiday: celebrating the birth of my teevee girlfriend Katee Sackhoff.

So! First, the meme. Courtesy of super_kc and sundancekid: So I was adding some new interests to my LJ profile (because I, uh... have some new interests. Yes.) and found myself feeling defensive every time I typed a female name, thinking, basically, FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME, because I felt as if someone somewhere was going to be criticizing my love for them.

So, anyway, then I made a list of women who make me want to say FUCK YOU, SHE'S AWESOME. They are far from the only women who are awesome, or the only women people need to be told to step off of, but they are the top ten I feel that way about, right now, off the top of my head.

If you want to argue with me about the awesomeness of any of these women, I am afraid I will simply be referring you to the subject line. THAT IS ALL.

My list

Amber Benson. Because she's gorgeous and smart and funny.


Eliza Dushku. Because she's my other babymamma. And she's going to sex it up on teevee with Tahmoh JUST FOR ME.


Kate Moennig. Because she makes me drool over her skinny ass by the sheer magnificence of her charm and sexassness.


Kristen Bell. Yes, I know she managed to piss off every fangirl on every continent by the end of VM but she still manages to play a very convincing funny and snarky bad-ass on VM and Heroes, so I don't care. FUCK YOU SHE'S AWESOME.


Tina Majorino. She makes me so proud to be a nerd.


Shakira/Beyonce. Because I have a thing for curvy pop sirens. Guilty pleasure y'all.

K Bell does rock. But she suffers from the same problem that Katee does where she voices her opinion of the moment on the characters/ships she's involved in, and that has a tendency to make the die-hard shipper fangirls want to lynch her. It certainly wasn't her fault that S3 of VM sucked--I'm letting Rob Thomas take the full blame for that one.

I'm looking forward to Dollhouse more for her than because it's a new Whedon show.

*nods vigorously* I know that I've pledged myself to the One True Joss and all, but I am so excited about the Eliza part of things that it is almost overshadowing the fact that it's HIS show. Really it just makes me insanely happy that the show will most likely not suck with him writing/creating it, and both Eliza and Tahmoh deserve an awesome follow-up vehicle for their acting.

The thing is, for me, my Joss love went down several notches after I saw the series finales of both Buffy and Angel. They just pissed me off in different ways. Sigh. I'm now one of those people that thinks Joss CAN be a genius but...isn't always. *G*

Haha, yes--that would be the infamous KBell moment I'm speaking of. I had a lot more L/V flisters at the time than anything else, and OMG the wank and the rage was so intense Jo! I wanted to give KB a hug and tell her just to keep quiet so no one would stalk her and take her ass out!

As for the shippery...I was a big L/V shipper in the beginning but it was rocky after S1 and it got pretty much killed dead by the suckfest that was season 3...

Then again, EVERYTHING in VM was just better in S1. That'll go down in history for me as one of those near perfect seasons of teevee, where the storytelling and the acting were just all fucking awesome. So sad when good teevee fizzles out!

Like both Buffy and Angel--I'm with you on the not loving the series finales of either particularly. Though I liked S5 of Angel as a whole a hell of a lot better than S7 of Buffy, I was one of those fangirls who chalked a lot of the failings of each show in the later years to Joss being split between too many projects and things just not being as tight creatively.

But I'm back to loving him almost blindly with the comics and the promise of Dollhouse--we'll see whether or not it delivers like I hope it will ;)

whoa, stop reading my mind, man! I am so with you on all counts for VM. I completely agree that it was probably the most perfect season of television ever. It's still wouldn't top an imperfect but wonderful season two of Buffy for me, but if I'm being objective, yeah. It was incredible. But I'm still amazed at how quickly things went downhill, though I'm almost convinced that the format of the show could probably only work as a season-long sort of thing. It just wasn't something that could be adequately repeated.

Though I liked S5 of Angel as a whole a hell of a lot better than S7 of Buffy, I was one of those fangirls who chalked a lot of the failings of each show in the later years to Joss being split between too many projects and things just not being as tight creatively.

Pretty much with you on all counts. The sucktitude of season 7....ugh. Don't even get me started. That DVD set must packed with dust.

And you're right about Kate Moennig. I've never seen Young Americans but it's listed on her IMDB page. Now I'm all curious...she is just about the best androgyne ever to hit the tv screen, so I can definitely see her playing a girl-dressed-as-boy.

it was a very teenage angsty love style show which isn't my thing. The main set of characters never did it for me. But I remember her role in the story (and it's why I bothered watching at all). She was in a boys only school and there was a boy she liked and who definitely liked her back but he thought she was a guy and she totally fucked with his brain and had him wondering if he was gay. It was all rather amusing.

Oh, SHAKIRA. I've had a crush on her since like '99 or something ridiculous like that when I first saw her MTV unplugged in Spanish and she bellydanced through like half of her set. YUMMERS. Not so much for her English-language stuff, but I still watch her whenever she's on tv :)
