A bunch of ramblings in which I attempt to prove that I sometimes watch/squee/obsess about shows besides BSG...and manage to horribly abuse the exclamation point. My apologies to the #1 button on my poor laptop.
VM:
I actually did like several parts of VM S3, mainly the ones that had a lot of Mac banter or Logan snark, and appealed heavily to my nerd pride. So my two faves for this season were...
Show me the monkey
Mac is cute and flirty with the adorkable boy! And she makes nerdy computer and comic jokes--yay!
Veronica is bitter and prickly and sarcastic but in the wonderful charming way that only she can pull off!
Mac/Veronica=buddy-cops 4 evah!
Mac and Parker host a Canada party for the dorm's international night! That's what I'm talking ABOOT!
Dick takes polaroids under his robe and throws them down at little old ladies!
There's an adorable monkey!
AND...the best moment of actual Logan/Veronica chemistry for the whole season...the Logan-kicks-the-door-shut-behind-them-while-never-letting-go smooch of awesomeness.

and...
Poughkeepsie, Tramps and Thieves
Max is the cutest most adorkable side character ever! And he nerds out about BSG so much!
The escort search engine!
Lots of adorable Logan/Veronica stuffing their faces together moments!
Boys who paint their SO's toenails FTW!!!
Did I mention that Max is the cutest ever?
Smallville:
Justice
The superhero team dynamic of this episode was fabulous! I loved all the individual superheroes and their collective effect was kick ass. Great cheesy comic-book style banter (and more than a little slashy subtext between several heroes--yay!!) and AWESOME action sequences.
Plus, Lex was in excellent form for the villain for this ep.
This one might actually be my favorite ep to rewatch of Smallville EVER. It's just so damn fun!
and...
Noir (I didn't actually post myself on this one so I'll refer y'all to Boppy's brilliance)
I loved this one for several reasons, but again mainly just because the episode was really fun. It was like one long crackvid of the Smallville universe translated into a gorgeous B&W noir detective show. Jimmy was great for the dry detective voice-overs. I loved Chloe as the super-sharp working girl. The sordid affair between Clark and Lana was delicious. And it LOOKED AMAZING. The lighting, the visual effects, the costumes, the props--even the cars looked just perfect. It was bad-ass.
And speaking of both Veronica Mars and Smallville, I read a rumor on the interwebs that Kristen Bell might be cast as Supergirl for Smallville's season 7--which would probably make me squee a whole lot. Kara/Supergirl is supposed to be very sassy/snarky and I think KB could really pull it off.
Still not ready to name my "fave episodes" for The Office or Battlestar or Lost yet, but I haven't had time to completely rewatch the last season for those shows either.
And I still have to watch the last four episodes of Heroes, including the finale. *hides in shame*
***
The L Word (I finally bought myself season 3 and I watched it all in a marathon--now I am blissfully d/l'ing all of season 4--yay!!!) :
So many bit characters on the S3 of the L Word were also on Battlestar! Tigh is Dana's dad. The dude who was in the resistance who bartends at Joe's talks to Bette at a bus-stop. Elosha the crazy priestess is a Jamaican nurse in the hospital. Leoben was an evil manipulative husband of an in-the-closet documentarian. And there's more that I can't remember right now.
Also...witness the insane number of cross-over actors between BSG and Supernatural in this amazing picspam over at
noway_icons.

So to wrap up this post of randomness, I want to rec the New Zealand folk parady duo "Flight of the Concords". They are like Tenacious D with adorkable accents and a much broader subject/musical range. The cute brunette of the duo is also going to be in the upcoming movie Eagle vs. Shark. (think a romantic comedy for extremely awkward and poorly socialized people along the lines of Punch Drunk Love or Napoleon Dynamite). Check out some of their live comedy skits/songs here on YouTube.
And in vidding land, I am two-thirds of the way through what is quite possibly the most cracked-out crackvid I have EVER made. I'm now thinking that there's a good reason why I never attempted to vid techno/remixes before, and I think this vid going to give either my lovely beta or me seizures before I'm through with it. Or be the most awesome thing ever invented in the history of crack. Jury's out still.

Cannot wait for crackvid-to-end-all-crackvids. Yay. Erm...it's about BSG right? Right?

Date: 2007-06-13 11:12 pm (UTC)And OF COURSE the epic-crackvid is BSG :) Starbuck as Speed Racer and Lee as Trixie, anyone? It was too insane to submit for the TV challenge one since it's a crazy-ass remix of the Speed Racer song--but it is 100% pure piloty bsg goodness.

Maybe you need to submit to the vid contest at the BSG Con...they take humor, they take crack, they take it all, aparently.

Date: 2007-06-13 10:21 pm (UTC)I thought the last few episodes of Heroes were really good. Did you hear about the new show? Heroes Origins? Where the audience will get to vote on which hero should join the show next season. Could be fun, at least a tease during the hiatus of doom.
I love BSG sightings! How very cool.
I haven't had a seizure yet, but I gotta say that I kinda still do blush when I watch it. :) Been watching it every day and taking notes here and there so you will hear from me tonight. :) (Gotta run now out and pick up my damn package at fedex cuz they wouldn't leave it on my porch! Grrr.)

Date: 2007-06-13 11:15 pm (UTC)I'm way behind on Heroes fandom stuff--I will have to track down info on that Origins things. Sounds very intriguing...
I know! I've been alternately squeeing and blushing and hiding in shame during the whole vidding process. This is probably the most PWP smut-extravaganza I've ever made :">

Date: 2007-06-14 04:20 am (UTC)Yup, that sums it up nicely. :)
I just saw Matthew Fox on J Kimmel. Did you know he is filming 'Speedracer' in Berlin this summer? He said he is Racer X. :)

Date: 2007-06-14 06:59 pm (UTC)According to wikipedia, Racer X is like the brooding, mysterious long-lost brother of Speed Racer or something. And Matthew Fox can be a hot brooder...

Yes and yes! I know--I was totally stunned by the amount of cross-over! I'm just starting my season 4 marathon of the L Word, and we'll see how many more actors I recognize :)

Date: 2007-06-14 07:10 am (UTC)What the fro?!!! I hated that chick. god why can't I remember what he looked like in the l word. I am totally blanking at the moment (It has been a while though).
I need a sexy leoben icon to get me through this travesty.

Date: 2007-06-14 02:32 am (UTC)Isn't it crazy how every show shot in Vancouver features actors from BSG? They all pop up everywhere - Dark Angel, SPN, La Femme Nikita, Smallville (there are more, but I haven't been to IMDB (http://www.imdb.com) in a while, so I don't remember them all).
no subject
Date: 2007-06-14 07:06 pm (UTC)I've noticed the Vancouver connection before, but I was surprised about the L Word cross-over actors because it's mainly shot in LA (at least, I think it is...). It makes me realize the completely unreasonable amount of affection I have for all my BSG actors when I totally squee about seeing them on screen for like five seconds in another show ;)

Date: 2007-06-14 10:52 pm (UTC)Oh I know, me too! I saw a preview the other day for 'Kyle XY' that featured Racetrack from BSG. I flipped out! Over Racetrack! I think she's going to be a bad guy for all of the second season, so, fun!

Date: 2007-06-14 07:05 am (UTC)I really like L word season 3, season 4...not so much. But I had no freaking clue that tigh was Dana's dad. And I knew that CKR was in an episode but I wasn't even aware he really existed untill a few months ago, so I missed out on squeeing about that one as well.
BSG/Supernatural actor crossovers are crazy. I had no idea that so many actors made appearences on the opposite show. I guess it pays to all film in that one town in Canada.
I want to rec the New Zealand folk parady duo "Flight of the Concords".
okay, totally random but I was flipping through HBO on demand while writing this and landed on Flight of the Concords...very strange coincidence (although I think I already knew thay had a show on HBO)
And in vidding land, I am two-thirds of the way through what is quite possibly the most cracked-out crackvid I have EVER made
That sounds really awesome. I'm excited to see it.

Date: 2007-06-14 07:15 pm (UTC)I've only just started season 4 of L Word (watched the first ep last night and am waiting for the others to download), but I'm already bummed that Carmen isn't a regular character anymore! I loved her! And I'm always wary when a show's cast keep expanding with every season because then it gets harder and harder to keep the plot lines and story arcs tight. (kind of like my problem with the stand alone eps from BSG season 3 where there were entirely too many character-centric ones about people that weren't the 7 main/original actors...)
I'm hoping to download some of the HBO shows for Flight of the Concords soon--I've only watched a handful of their skits but those were hilarious so I'm hoping it translates well to an ongoing show format.
And my vid is eating my brain! But in that fun way :)

Date: 2007-06-15 06:59 pm (UTC)And hey, I thought that we lived in a town that got movies special before other people. Why aren't they showing it here yet? WTF?

Date: 2007-06-16 08:11 pm (UTC)I completely know what you mean. I think my most insane moment in this area was when I watched one episode of the children's cartoon Oban Star Racers out of curiosity because I'd found out Gaeta waas one of voice actors on it.
I have looked up many of the BSG actors on IMDB for this purpose, and in fact am currently on a campaign to Netflix movies they have been in, one actor at a time, as a way to deal with hiatus withdrawal symptoms. I am thinking about making posts about it, actually, as sort of a combination squee-fest/public service to the BSG fans on my flist.
So many people have mentioned so many appearances on this comment thread, I feel like I should just bookmark this page as a reference!
