Because the Alamo is the awesomest theatre ever to awesome, they played this during the previews before Star Trek tonight:
Which made me think of the first fan video I ever saw (long before I went on to make, oh, nineteen or so of my own...), a Kirk/Spock vid to Closer by NIN:
It does such a great job of following the video style of the original Closer video, and it highlights the tension and obsessive behavior between two characters in a way I would NEVER have considered before.
Then again. Kirk/Spock is the original slash pairing. They pretty much invented the concept in pop culture.
PS: Star Trek was AWESOME. The Romulans aren't my favorite bad guys ever (revenge is kind of one-note sometimes) but I absolutely loved all of the crew cast, particularly Scotty, Spock, McCoy and even Kirk. The movie was shiny and funny and way exciting.
And I love what they did with the timeline--it creates a perfect parallel to the original series where all the characters and background are familiar but they have much more leeway to create new material if they do more movies/tv series from here.
