My supreme best-est of 2006
1. Angst. Smut and fic in general are hotter if there is angst involved. I like the occasional fluff, but mainly I wants the star-crossed, frakked-up, messy throwdowns of angsty passion.
2. Arms of boys: Logan's, Lee's, Ollie's. Inexplicable arm-fetish. Closely followed by...
3. Tummies of girls: Starbuck's, Carmen's, Faith's. Six pack's are nice and everything, but a little bit of a pooch is even better...
4. Participatory nerdiness: LJ fandom. Buffy Sing-alongs. Library book/anime clubs.
5. Slashy subtext and HoYay and OT3's everywheres!!! Clark/Lex, Clark/Lex/Ollie, Veronica/Mac, Veronica/Meg, Logan/Weevil, Logan/Duncan, Logan/Duncan/Veronica, Harry/Draco, Karen/Pam, Kara/Lee/Anders, Clark/Ollie/Lois, and many many more.
Fave moments of 2006 by fandom or other context
Veronica Mars
1. Logan/Weevil HoYay in S2. Hawwwwt.
2. Mac's hair throughout S2. Rainbow Brite streaks!
3. Omg!sway in "Plan B".
4. Logan's angst/woobie alterna-prom scooting and bottle-stroking in "LWS".
5. Logan's reckless toothbrush abandonment in "Welcome Wagon".
Battlestar Galactica
I've enjoyed this show since it started but 2006 turned me into a full-on Kara/Lee 'shipper. I guess the UST was there in S1 and I just didn't notice or care. But by the time "Scar" rolled around, and then with recent eps, I'm on the pilot! ship. Best angst on TV right now--I'm hooked.
1. Pilot eye-frakking.
2. The aforementioned arms of Lee and tummy of Starbuck.
3. AAAAAAANGST.
4. Pilot smooching.
5. Lee/Kara/Anders OT3 - began in Lay Your Burdens Down
and pics up again in Eye of Jupiter. Gah.
Smallville
The show actually got good again! Rejuvenated by less Clark/Lana moping and more kick-ass superhero/villain-ness with Zod, Green Arrow and Justice League of America glimpses!
1. Clex slashy subtext. I don't know how I didn't notice the OVERWHELMING subtext here till this season. Yup: hawt.
2. Ollie. 'Nuff said.
3. Kneel before Zod! Teh hubby and I almost died!
Books
Occupational hazard of working in kid's section? Or, fabulous excuse to read a bunch of awesome YA lit that I might not get around to otherwise?
1 and 2. Westerfeld! The Midnighters and Uglies trilogies were some of the best freakin' sci-fi I've read in ages.
3. Riordan! The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series have awesome mythological tie-ins and great action-y pacing.
4. Meyers! Twilight and New Moon are supernatural (vampire/werewolf) teen angst at their prime.
5. Haddix! The Shadow children series is dystopian sci-fi for kids--so awesome. Think "1984" meets "The Giver", for tweens.

Date: 2007-01-03 02:47 am (UTC)You are at least partly to blame for the overwhelming pilot-ness of this picspam: your fic has been fueling the flames of K/L 'shippery and fangirlness...

Eeeee, Westerfeld. I want to liquefy your books so I can bathe in them.
