Quick review of BSG series finale (more later)

Have to work in the morning, so here is the quick version:

I liked it!

I thought the resolution of Kara's S4 arc (with the music and the visions) worked really well. The juxtaposition of her hands on the piano with her hands on the FTL controls, and the music build-up, was gorgeous.

I loved the Opera House conclusion.

I teared up a million times at different character resolutions (when Anders drove into the sun, when Adama put his ring on Roslin's hand, when Gaius talked about knowing how to farm from his father, when Kara turned into an angel/pigeon and flew away, when Helo was still alive and running around with Athena and Hera, etc.). What can I say? I'm a total sap.

Sidenote: I've got a super-cracky icon idea that gobsmacked me while my piloty heart was breaking during that scene on Earth: if Kara is the pigeon that Lee can't hold on to because she's free and flying away blah blah blah, I want a Kara icon that says "I AM THE PIGEON, GOO GOO G'JOOB"

There were some things I was disappointed with, but I'll save those for a longer review. Mainly I wanted more for my girl, but I still think it was a good resolution to the show.

Haha! That's a pretty funny icon idea!

So Kara was the bird? Set it free, if it doesn't come back it was never yours sort of thing? I wasn't sure what to make of that. I was thinking of flying and being viper pilots and the wings in her tattoo and that she was finally free from all the baggage she had which was a lot! but But her being the bird he can't have certainly works too because in the end *cries* she left him. All in all though, it was good.

How was the big screen? Amazing? And the crowd?

The big screen was totally awesome. I was annoyed at having to sit through the commercials (so spoiled by DVR!) but it was probably good otherwise I wouldn't have been able to pee for three hours!

The crowd was good too. I saw a couple of people I know randomly that I didn't know where BSG fans--that's always nice to find out. Everybody clapped at the end <3

How did your buddy/her son like it?

I watched it live too so I couldn't avoid the commercials but my dad would have been so upset with me when he called at 10:15 if I hadn't been done. :)

I put a bsg comment in my facebook status and a guy from college commented that he always knew he liked me, it was cute. :) Now that he knows I'm a scifi geek, I'm infinitely more interesting! lol

My friend's son is like 2 or 3 episodes behind but my friend came over last night and she liked it, I think she was pretty much speechless at the end and needed time to process. I'd already had a day. And boy have I been processing. lol I need to get her all of 4.5 so her son can watch them all, he probably missed a few here and there too because he would always fall asleep before the episodes ended. :)
