Vid recs from the last couple of months:

I know/hope that BSG fandom will be exploding with a bunch of new vids now that the S3 discs are out, so I figured I should weigh in on some of my recent favorites before then.

BSG vids

Vidder: Jo/canadiangirl_86
Title/song: Boot Camp by Soundgarden
Pairing: Lee-centric with a hint of Kara/Lee
Why you should watch it: A gorgeous angst vid about the sacrifices and hard choices Lee makes being in the military and how they weigh on him.

Vidder: demonqueen666
Title/song: The Game by Disturbed
Pairing: Gaius/Six and their various incarnations
Why you should watch it: A very angsty, action/violence-filled look at each character and their cross-pairings. Excellent beat work and editing. Dark and disturbing in that good way!

Vidder: dayln03
Title/song: White Flag by Dido
Pairing: Kara/Lee
Why you should watch it: I'm not a big fan of this song, but this vid is just SO DAMN PRETTY. And I love my pretty angsty pilots to death.

Vidder: chilvi_cos
Title/song: Breathe Me by Sia
Pairing: Kara/Helo friendship
Why you should watch it: A lovely, achey friendship vid full of Kara angst (yay!). Helo is always there to listen and support Kara. Great match with the song too, with lyrics like "Be my friend, wrap me up".

Vidder: nicole_anell
Title/song: Another Place to Fall by KT Tunstall
Pairing: Gaius/Gaeta
Why you should watch it: A gorgeous retrospective of their relationship where Gaius falls and Felix catches. Just beautiful.

SPN vids

Damn this fandom is prolific! So many good vids coming out all the time, so I'll try to limit myself to absolute faves.

Vidder: dayln03
Title/song: One Year Only by Jem
Pairing/character: Dean-centric
Why you should watch it: I love Marik's vid about Kara to this song, but after seeing this vid this song will ALWAYS be about Dean for me. It's a gorgeous piece of work with some amazing editing that gives an AU look at Dean's last year to live. I can totally see why this one a "best of fandom" award.

Vidder: brighette
Title/song: Revelations by Puscifier
Pairing/character: Sam-centric AU
Why you should watch it: An intense AU where Sam begins receiving visions from Meg that he finds harder and harder to resist.

Vidder: lierdumoa
Title/song: You Know You're Right by Nirvana
Pairing: Dean-centric
Why you should watch it: An S2 action and angst vid with some phenomenal editing and very insightful visual paralells between events and moments in Dean's life.

Vidder: dayln03
Title/song: "In Your Eyes", from A Dangerous Mind by Within Temptation
Pairing/character: Ruby-centric
Why you should watch it: A kick-ass look at ruby's character and interactions with the boys. Some really fabulous inter-cutting towards the end: "not all demons are the same; not all of them want the same thing."

Title/song: "Here in your car", from Here In Your Arms by Hellogoodbye
Pairing: Dean/Sam
Why you should watch it: An adorable and fun vid that had me grinning non-stop. Full of sappy smiling Winchesters and yummy manips. 100% pure schmoop.

Okay, so that part of the list really ended up being let-me-count-the-ways-dayln-kicks-ass, but seriously: she does. So, um, deal with it.

Other fandoms and multi-fandom ones

Vidder: super_kc
Title/song: Passive Manipulation by the White Stripes
Pairing/Characters: Buffyverse, Firefly, BSG, SPN and several movies
Why you should watch it: A multi-fandom vid of kick-ass women doing kick-ass things. Great movement and awesome clip choices.

Vidder: Bunniqula
Title/song: Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne
Pairing/character: Alec/Logan from Dark Angel
Why you should watch it: So I'm not big a fan of this song either but the video is hilarious and I've watched it about fifty bajillion times now: "Alec thinks Logan needs a new girlfriend... as long as that 'girlfriend' is him. There is gratuitous use of balls, sticks, Jensen Ackles' mouth and other phallic and sexual innuendo."

So, now that we've established that I only really like vids with mountains of action/angst or that are 100% fluffy/crackalicious, and that I tend to prefer song choices that are loud and angry or silly and dancey...anyone wanna rec me some awesome vids? Doesn't matter if they're not one of my favorite fandoms, I watch outside of my fandoms all the time :)

SGA, Barenaked Ladies' "Some Fantastic." I'm a PCer, so I'm using WMM, which is pretty easy to use but I less lacks some of the functionality of fancier programs? You're on a Mac, right -- what program do you use?

I use iMovie, which came with my Mac, but it's definitely less impressive than so of the amateur-pro programs out there. It does the job for now ;)

Thinking about asking for Final Cut Express for my birthday though...

I just ripped several seasons of other shows, with the best intentions of vidding them soon, but nevertheless...three of the four vid-in-progress files on my hard-drive are Kara-centric. *headdesk*
