Okay, I'm still working on my Best of 2007 Fic-Rec post (it's gonna be huge y'all), but I have a flist favor to ask in the meantime:

So, I've recently discovered a great love for genderswap. Granted, I'm a bit picky so it needs to be GOOD genderswap. But there are several slash fandoms that I dabble in (particularly my love of Clex and SPN/J2) and I'm sure that some of my flisters who have read more broadly/deeply in those fandoms can rec me some stellar genderswap, yes? rejeneration? cynthia_arrow? bop_radar? Any recs for me? I'm happy to read other fandoms too if they're really well-written!

Oh, and I think I might die a thousand deaths of fandom love if some wrote me some Anders/Lee genderswap...in fact, my brain just broke thinking about it.

*Laughs* Oh yes? Sounds intersesting. I've read some genderswap in my time, though mostly in HP online, I think, and it was ages ago and sadly I don't think I could give you any links.

I did suddenly have a flashback to a book I loved in about fifth grade. It was about a teen couple who traded bodies for a week in high school because of a fight they'd had about whose life was harder. I'm sure I have it around here somewhere
There was some budding sexual curiousity on my part about some of the glossed over parts as I recall! *blush*

Anyways-*clears throat* The cover was pink with a picture of a male teen with dark hair in a dress and holding up a pair of ballet slippers with a look of horror on his face! I may have to go down to the laundry room and look for it!

So, in this Anders/Lee story would they both be swapped then? Or just one of them is a woman? I'm curious now! How would Kara feel about it?

Oooh, HP genderswap! I didn't even think of that but I bet there are loads. I will totally have to track down some HP slash comms and see what I can find.

Haha, I'm such a sucker for bad teen fiction--I'll have to see if I can find that one. It sounds truly hilarious.

As far as the Anders/Lee one, I'm thinking only one of them would be swapped, though I'm not sure which...maybe Anders resurrects as a girl!cylon? Or a post-S3 crack where we find out that Anders dies/disappears and it is really him in Kara's resurrected body (so you would have all the heat and awesomeness of reunited Kara/Lee smut/angst with the undercurrent of knowing it was Sam inside Kara's body and whatever fabulous identity/sexuality/relationship crises would accompany a het relationship with Lee for Sam)?

I'm sure it would be amazingly hot to have girl!Lee sexin' it up with Anders too, but I'm struggling to figure out how one would achieve a believable genderswap for a non-magical/non-supernatural/non-cylon character.

I tend to envision Anders/Lee slash in Kara's absence (like on the Algae planet or post-death/pre-resurrection on Galactica), so I'm not sure how she'd react. If it were total PWP, there could be some threesome action, but I seem to like plausible, plotty genderswaps so far I guess I'd prefer something without her explicitly in the picture (though peripherally important because they are both so affected by her) or where she was crazy jealous of the genderswapped boy-to-girl stealing her man.

There are indeed lots of HP ones. I know there are comms for it as well, though some of them might be locked these days since all the minor reading/involved in fic fears hit that fandom very hard. Sorry I can't be more helpful in pointing you anywhere.

I think the book had switch in the title! I shall see what I can find on Amazon. I'll let you know if I find it. Also, I have a vague idea the boy's name was Zac or Max. Odd, what the brain throws up from twenty plus years ago!

Oooh the Sam in Kara's body idea is very unique and angsty! Yes, harder to think of a reason w/Lee, but it can always be an alien or ancient artifact now that they had the ruins on Kobol and the algae planet, I'd say. Those things are always a standby for strange things on most sci-fi shows!

Right-it does make it less complicated if Kara isn't around for some reason, though the idea of her being jealous is also entertaining. Hmm, now I have lots of plot bunnies for various fic ideas. I'm also amused at the idea of her running into female Lee and/or Sam and not knowing who they were at first, while they did for some reason.

Sometime, when you're on AIM, we'll have to chat about it.

Yes, yes, MUSE! She's brilliant with girl!Sam, girl!Dean. I'm not a big genderswapper, but if you haven't read Res Gestae (http://dreamlittleyo.livejournal.com/23438.html) by my glorious little beacon, dreamlittleyo you need to read that, too. And this girl has such an incredible way of writing atmosphere - haunting, achy, you can use this link to something she calls Landscape Verse (http://salinasfic.livejournal.com/tag/spn+au:+landscape+'verse). She's writing it all willy-nilly, as in... there's no true stop and start, so you could probably just start reading it anywhere, but Strange How Hard it Rains Now is what drew me in.

How weird--I just made a post looking for Lost genderswap.

Alas, most of my fandoms don't do it. I read a SGA girl!John recently, which should be near the top of the page at the mcshep comm. (They've got a tag for genderswap, if that pairing/fandom does anything for you.) I've also seen some decent girl!Sam and girl!Dean (SPN has a whole comm for it--winsisterfic). Oh, and if you read House, I can dig up the links to a crack verse where the whole hospital did a gender swap, and the writers treat it a bit like magic realism, where it happened to everybody and they're having to deal with it. Just let me know.

But nothing on the BSG front...other than a cracked-out and unfinished (unfinishable?) eight!Sam fic I've been slowly screwing around writing. Right now? I have a serious kink for the mere idea of girl!SamAnders. So do not suggest such tempting things as genderfuck Anders/Lee. I've got more plot bunnies than I can manage right now as it is. *flails*

Oh K, this is exactly the kind of fandom awareness/knowledge I was looking for--I knew I could count on you. I haven't ever watched SGA, but I'm sure I could get the gist if the McShep was worth it, so I'll definitely check that out. And an entire SPN comm: WOW, life is just too damn good to me ;D

But sweet jesusfuckingchrist I think I might swoon permanently if you wrote me some girl!Anders. And you are one of the few writers I can think of with the flexibility and creativity to pull off a _really_ good girl!Sam. However, I KNOW you have a million plot bunnies on your plate though, so I'll tuck this one away in my brain for a time when you have less fic in progress.

Does it have to be slashy genderswap? I think Lee and Sam swapping bodies and dealing with Kara would be great insight for both men to see how Kara acts with the other guy. Imagine the jealousy and covetousness?

Oh honey! Of course it doesn't have to be slash, since I know that's not really your deal, but I would loveloveLOVE to see some awesome OT3 body-swapping fic from you. I'd love to get into the head of either Sam or Lee as they experience Kara's love/lust/anger/frustration with the other man. That would be frakkin fascinating! (not to mention, um, pretty damn hot).
