I'm still going back and forth a lot on Katee's comments at the con, and how I feel about her opinions of pilots, but I can't quite articulate the Kara-meta I want right now so I'm going to refer to
wisteria_'s excellent meta about Kara/Lee and Kara in general.
Briefly: I still believe with all my fangirl heart that Kara and Lee will end up together. Their's is the central relationship journey of the show, and though they have a lot of friendship and connections to re-establish going forward, I think the finale left them in a VERY GOOD PLACE to be together by the end of the series.
Further, I don't want it to be nice and neat and solved within the first ep of season 4--I want it to be painful and amazing and absolutely worth my attention and emotional investment ALL THE WAY TILL THE END. Pilots will triumph. That is all.
And now I bring a few crackpoems to lighten the mood. I've been working with
dionusia on a series of Pilots spoofs of Robert Herrick poems. I love Robert Herrick! 90% of his poems are about his fat mistress Julia :) I'm still toying with "To the Pilots, to make much of time" (based on the "To the Virgins, to make much of time" which is the ultimate carpe diem poem and I might end up posting later with the Marvell carpe diem one when I finish it). Anyway, babbling!
So here are the first two:
"Delight In Disorder" (Lee's POV, original is here)
The sweet disorder in Kara's dress
Kindles in me a wantonness :
Her hair down to her shoulders grown
Into my own distraction :
An erring lace which here and there
Directs me to her boots, each pair :
Her shirt neglected, and thereby
Buttons do burst most carelessly :
A fraying edge (a hem of sorts)
In her hastily cut-off shorts :
A worn down cigar, in whose ash
I spy my lover, wild and brash :
Do more beguile me than when art
Is too precise in every part.
***
"Whenas in tanks my Kara goes" (Lee's POV again, original here)
Whenas in tanks my Kara goes,
Then, then, methinks how smugly shows
The swift reaction 'neath her clothes.
Next when I cast my eyes and see
Those blushing nipples each way free
Oh how her swaggering taketh me!
***
Yay for smutty, crackish pilots!!!

I'm glaring at our recalcitrant Crackiope myself right now. I think I may have finished Kara/Blackbird but I really wanted to finish the Bishop one instead. Crackpoet pouty time!
I'll cheer myself up with this though:
A fraying edge (a hem of sorts)
In her hastily cut-off shorts
Hee, I love this so. Thank you!

Date: 2007-05-23 05:33 pm (UTC)Hmmmm...yes, there definitely needs to be more Lee-ogles-Kara poetry. I'll take another gander at some of Herrick's other odes to his fat mistress :)

Date: 2007-05-23 06:57 am (UTC)Anything that contains Lee fixating on Kara's nipples is good with me. And 'Delight in Disorder' could have been MADE for Kara/Lee: it so perfectly describes Kara, and we know that Lee secretly loves her scruffiness/it drives him wild. ;-)

Thanks Boppy!
