Yeah...no Katee in the credits and 41,399 survivors. frak me...

I really enjoyed all of the glimples of grieving that we got from the various menfolk in Kara's life (with the small exception of Helo--where was the Karl friend-grief?)...
  • Adama's nostalgic look through her file, disciplinary notices, smirky pictures and cheesy birthday cards, was touching. But it was the argument with Lee and his line about having to "quantify his loss" that really got me. That was damn good acting on EJO's part.

  • Damn, Sammy broke my heart up there on the viper. And his anguished plea to Lee that she must still be alive...gah...I've really begun to LOVE trucco and I'll be very happy to have him around in S4.

  • But Lee bloody well PWNED this entire episode for the grief factor. It was everything I could have hoped for from JB. I loved his disoriented briefing where he said the wrong coordinates and called another pilot Starbuck--he was so crumbly and vulnerable! Emo!Lee!!!!!! I loved the angsty scene with his dad where he managed to demonstrate (to me at least) that, YES--his loss is deeper and greater! And I adored his quiet angst while he listened to Lampkin's manipulative story of love and pain.

  • Plus, the scene in the hallway at the end. I really appreciated the mutual respect and shared emotion between Lee and Anders (kind of hearkened back to the buddy-nudge in Rapture). They are both just broken up, and they each get their moments of private grief, but the connection between them is powerful too. [But it's still Lee who puts Kara's photo there--he wins in my book, hehe!]

Believe or not, I loved something in this episode not-entirely-related-to-Kara:
LAMPKIN was awesome! I love Mark Sheppard (badger badger badger!). His monologue about being a lawyer as a study in humanity's flaws and why we continue to forgive was amazing. He was full of snark and thievery and manipulation--not to mention the great accent and stubble and fidgeting.
"I was born for this. That and the fact that I have a pulse."
"Does your love hurt as much as mine?"
"Tyranny, gag orders, very sexy."

And he was a great foil for Lee's earnest boy-scout-who-wants-to-rebel act:
"King of the Pilots"
"The parade fop for the bereaved. Everybody lookin at you like you're bleeding out of your side. OH. There is someone home."
"Suddenly I'm handcuffed to a serial contrarian."

Other favorite lines and moments:
-I hate Tigh's character most of the time, but I'm all for him if they just let him out to play long enough for the high-quality snark: "you now own exactly one-fifth of Baltar's skinny ass."
-One of the pilots saying "justice would be Starbuck alive and Baltar dead"
-EJO's laser-beam eyes when he was yelling at Lee.
-The random Lampkin-cat--which was a pretty transparent plot device for revealing the bomb on the raptor--but who cares, cuz KITTIES!!!

In short, I miss Kara to the level of actual physical ache, but I still really enjoyed this episode.

Hee... the ass owning line was one of my favorites. I wish I liked the ep as much as you did -- I commented on it in my lj. I'm hoping that the series finale will be spectacular.. and that Kara comes back soon. I miss Starbuck. I really wish there was a Head!Starbuck for the messed up men in her life. They need all the help they can get, since they're breaking bones, ships and daddy's heart all over the place...

Head!Kara works for me in fic, but I think I'd be frustrated with that on-screen. I'm still holding out for the real-deal, return-of-Kara in the end!

HOMG! BADGER ROCKED IT. Like... like... like fucking Freddy Mercury or some such! Every scene with him was mesmerizing... and I have no freakin' idea what he was talking about half the time. He was just ... wow. Wow, wow, WOW. I could have watched him for another hour quite comfortably.

I can't wait to see next weeks fistfight. -grinning- I'm stoked!

I liked Badger even more here than I did on Firefly! Yeah, I could listen to him read a phone book and probably enjoy it almost as much--but through in the rock-star glasses and the fabulous body language, and it was insanely awesome!

I can't wait till next week either!

"King of the Pilots"

I think that should now be Lee's official title.

And Kara is the Queen in Exile. Yes, EXILE AND SHE'LL BE BACK OMG. :)

He certainly did. His face through that story of Lampkin's about getting over his wife just really got to me. And he convinced me that his loss is greater than Bill's.

LAMPKIN was awesome!

Totally with you there. His scenes with Lee were just awesome. I feel the urge to write fic about him already!

BSG just feels weird without Kara, though.

I think I'm in love with you now. You some how managed to articulate all of my feelings about this episode.

I loved the angsty scene with his dad where he managed to demonstrate (to me at least) that, YES--his loss is deeper and greater! And I adored his quiet angst while he listened to Lampkin's manipulative story of love and pain.

Hello, how can losing a daughter figure compare with losing the love of your life and your best friend???

I love Mark Sheppard (badger badger badger!)

Yes love badger and firefly. And how cool was his character and all of his great lines?

I just really don't understand how Adama can STILL be so clueless as to the depth of Kara and Lee's relationship. He's had more than enough subtle and glaringly obvious indicators that they love each as more than siblings/friends/pilots and he STILL DOESN'T FRAKKING GET IT. wtf.

Yesyes. I am filled with badger-love. He has been completely pwning all of his scenes, in and out of the courtroom.
