latteaddict and proggrrl already provided linkage to these wonderful video clips from a recent con, so I'll just skip straight into my resulting Katee-squee in quick recap:

• Audition from hell: She gives a longer version of the cute story about how Mrs. Eick was instrumental in casting her because they all thought she was too young and wimpy/girly to be Starbuck


• BSG Plans: Apparently, her character in the upcoming Lifetime rom-com is the most like Katee's RL personality


• BSG Relationships: Katee talks about her theory that Kara actually loves Sam more than Lee, as far as adult romantic love/companionship goes. Hmmmm...and then there's some cute embarrassment about the writers decision to write her as being unfaithful to Sam and a joke about there being stock footage of her sleeping with everyone just in case they need it.


• Death scene: She talks about how Maelstrom was awesome because she gets to play outside the box of Starbuck's normal character range, particularly the scene with Lee under the viper where she's basically preparing him for her death.


• Fan reacted: Talks about fan reactions to her character, and how she really found her groove playing Starbuck around episode 4 (Act of Contrition). Then she says she kind of wishes she could re-do Kara in the miniseries because she thinks she was trying too hard to show her as a badass and she wound up over-masculinizing the character in the miniseries.


• Fight Scene: She talks about how Jamie and she must have been brother/sister in a past life, based on their fight scenes. And then she talks about getting beat up on Battlestar and Bionic on a regular basis.


• Kissing: OMG, listening to her talk about kissing all of her lovely cast members may or may not have made me drool intensively...apparently everyone's wives are extremely lucky to have them and James is a surprisingly good kisser. She also jokes about saving kissing Tricia for when the ratings go down and they need a boost.


• Name Change: She talks briefly about why she wanted to be called Katee as opposed to Katherine.


• Paint sex: She says Callum is gorgeous and the paint scene was incredibly fun. It was real paint and it got everywhere :) Apparently she got in a bunch of trouble for taking off the pasties she was wearing during that scene because they were getting in the way off the shot, which resulted in very visible handprints on her boobs (OMG drools at Callum handprints on Katee's boobs!!!). So her manager/agent had to contact NBC to make sure all the footage of Katee's bits would be sent to them, and to make sure no boobage can be leaked or shown on the show (*sighs*).


• Richard Hatch: Just basically singing his praises--nothing too exciting on this one.


• Coffee: She's adorable while talking about a Starbucks promo where she got highly overcaffeinated, and wound up looking kind of sweaty and cracked out. There's another story about her and a fan at a Starbucks--very cute.


• Stunt Injury: Apparently she injured her knee recently doing a stunt on Bionic Woman and she's been rehabilitating it the last month or so.


• The Farm: Very cute story about meeting the actor for the Simon model for the first time right before the gyno scene in Farm. She also talks a little about the difficulty of coming to terms with Kara's abusive mom, particularly when Katee has such a positive relationship with her own mom.


• The Sentinel: Poor thing does a lot of eye-rolling when asked about the Last Sentinel. She admits that it was not great but she thought it was entertaining. But she did get to do her own stunts and used up more ammo during that movie than during an entire season of BSG. And she jokes that because she made so little on that movie and she bought the entire crew Starbucks cards, so she probably lost money on it.


• Word frak: Apparently the cast had to practice with the real f-bomb until "frak" became more comfortable. Then she jokes about being a bad influence on her nephew.


• Work: She's done voiceover work recently on a video game (which she couldn't name) and is going to be the voice of Rainbow Brite on Robot Chicken (which yay!!! because I love RC).

I guess I have to remember that she flip-flops... I'm more used to Jamie whose insights into his character are always solid and insightful. I just worry though because TPTB adore Katee and if that's how she thinks, then they might run with it...

It wasn't "not" loving Lee exactly, but I think she's definitely of the current opinion that Kara/Lee are better off as best-friends/siblings/family than as romantic partners, and that her feelings for Sam are purely romantic (without all the other layers).

I'll forgive her that one in light of the really fun stories in several of the other clips. Again, REALLY glad sometimes that the actors only have so much sway over the direction of their characters and the show sometimes...

Yeah, I found her comments (apart from heartbreaking) a little odd--I would never have interpreted Kara's love for Sam as 'more adult', but I guess Katee sees a lot more depth in that relationship than I've been able to detect.

And yeah, I'll second being glad that they have limited sway... though Katee's always seemed to have a lot of influence.

I just left you this detailed ass comment on why I always liked the ambiguous nature of the Lee/Kara/Sam triangle, and how I think she is a passionate woman who needs something from both of these men that only can be given by each of them separately, and that MORE or LESS doesn't really need to be part of the equation blah, blah, blah (only it was WAAAY more coherent) and my frakkin internet connection decided to crap out on me, so this has all been a (poorly executed) exercise in paraphrasing.

Bottom line: I love Kara Thrace. I don't care who she's frakking. ;)

Also. WOW, SHE'S JUST SO UNBELIEVABLY GORGEOUS. And funny! So it's win/win! Oh, wait, I forgot adorable. Win/win/win!

Tomorrow we will rock the mini-series! Woot!

Hee, I like your comments whether they are coherent or not! And I definitely feel that way sometimes: both Sam and Lee have some really interesting things to bring to the table relationship-wise and it doesn't necessarily have to be about quantifying her feelings for one vs. the other.

But yes. In the end it comes down to KARA IS HOT AND I WOULD WATCH HER MAKE OUT WITH ANYONE. And it's just an added bonus when the frakking is with gorgeous sweaty angsty men.

Miniseries tonight on the big-screen FTW!!! (have I mentioned how much I adore you and how delightfully evil you are for fueling my fangirliness with screenings? cuz you kick ass).

Thanks for the recap of all the clips! It really helped me figure out which ones I wanted to watch first (because I'll watch 'em all eventually, heh). But yes, some heart-stabbing glumness on the Anders vs. Lee talk.

However, if the above poster is suggesting an Anders/Lee/Kara threesome of hotness as an alternative, I have been amenable to that idea in the past. I dunno, though...after Kara's death, I was really kind of saddened by Sam hooking up with both Seelix and Tory. I mean, I know it was a way of dealing with grief (and a very Starbucky way, at that) -- it just seemed like Lee's grief was more profound, more deeply felt. It made the Lee-Kara relationship seem deeper and more important, that way. Does that make any sense?

I may or may not have spent several hours watching Katee and doing the...erm..."research" required to produce the recaps :) But yeah, not a bad way to kill an afternoon!

And yes: Lee was grieving a much longer and deeper connection with Kara in post-Maelstrom, and Lee/Kara are a much more complex relationship right now, I totally agree (although we'll see what levels of complexity Sam's cylonity adds to the equation. angst, anyone?). I'm totally with you on that one. *sighs* I love pilots so much.
