I may have gone too far this time...

I've always enjoyed following the acting careers of people from my favorite fandoms. Sometimes this leads to delightful surprises of indie sleepers or hilariously bad acting that I love anyway. But sometimes these fave-fandom-actors lead me astray. Like when I rented that terrible b-movie crime caper with Aly Hannigan as some cracked out victim-girlfriend and Alexis Denisof in 80s hair and a Russian accent. That was pretty traumatizing.

But today I watched Without a Paddle and I think that may have been a new low for me. I'm a fan of all three of the main actors:
Seth Green - I usually love his deadpan and his personas (ever since he first impersonated the French animal cracker Monkey on Buffy), but him as an uptight yuppie doctor was just not working for me.
Dax Shephard - he's so cute in a Zach-Braff-doppelganger kind of way and I loved him in Zathura as the astronaut.
and Matthew Lillard! - who I fucking love like crazy. Serial Mom, SLC Punk, Hackers, and my personal favorite: Scream. He and Skeet Ulrich were some of the first to fulfill my obligatory-psychotic-jackass needs.

*fangirl drool starts forming at the memory of Skeet*

But this film was just not nearly as funny as I expected coming from these guys. It was pretty mediocre and I am bummed. Needless to say, fandom does not always lead to the best movie-watching choices.

Now I have to go find some fic to wash my brain out...
