BSG 3.19: Crossroads pt.1 (spoilers!)

boomqueenThe short summary is that I bloody well loved it and I want the second half right now.
Biggest surprise of the episode: I seriously sympathized with Tigh. I never sympathize with Tigh. I HATE Tigh most of the time. But I literally wrote "poor Tigh" five frakkin times in my episode notes. I loved him with Caprica Six (I like Tricia Helfer so much better as a royal badass than as a sexpot--she should punch people more often). I loved him in the trial: hearing the music that no one else heard and owning up to killing Ellen publicly. I totally felt for him when Adama was putting him to bed and he couldn't remember Ellen's smell anymore (plus, Adama briefly won me with the "you're my oldest friend--you could never embarass me"). And then his crazy-face at the end when he hears the music again--the things that man can do with one eye! "It's in the frakkin ship" totally make me crack up though.
The song/refrain: Tigh and Sam hear the same song...I'll save my spoilery speculation and squeeing about this for a separate post though.
Shallow note: Sam got a haircut? *pouts* He still looks wayyyyyyyyyy pretty. Hmmm. I saw that eyefrakking with Tory! I want more for Sam, but again going for the shallow--some Sam/Tory sex would be really hot.
Lee! I loved Jamie's performance throughout the ep. [In Kara's absence, I find myself experiencing the show more through him than other character...*sighs* I miss Kara...] Anyway, I loved Lee's smirky face when he was hiding Roslin's chamalla secret from Lampkin and Baltar. I thought he was magnificent in his resignation scene with Adama--that was just downright ugly and mean, for both of them as military professionals and as family. And damned if he didn't look AMAZINGLY HOT in civvie clothes during the trial. He was so cute and nervous and awkward when questioning Roslin--obviously out of his depths for courtroom protocol but he handled it well nonetheless. But the poor boy is going to hit rock bottom pretty damn soon, if he hasn't already: Kara's death, his father's rejection (calling him a liar and a coward!), Laura's rejection ("Captain Apollo--that had such a nice ring to it. I feel so sorry for you now."), and Dee leaving him (though I LOVE that she leaves him over his decision to leave the military and use Roslin's info against her, rather than because of Kara or their romantic relationship). Poor poor Lee!
But I am a sick little fangirl and I love the angst!!!!!!!
Other random moments:
-The lighting in the opera house was awesome. I bet it will make for some stunning caps/icons. I thought the scene had echoes of the Escher stairway chase scene in Labyrinth where the baby is always slight ahead of or away from her.
-Holy shit--5,197 people lost/died because of New Caprica
-Racetrack's random line, "I know you wank it in your rack" totally made me snort out loud.
-Godsdamn frakkin poundy drums. If they don't cut that shit out I'm going to scream.
-Not sure if I loved Helo's weather changing speech or thought it was completely trite. Or both.
-And poor Tory! When Laura was just cutting her to shreds: "what is up with you?...you're plain obnoxious." And then Laura attacks her haircut! That's just low.
ETA: somebody far more brilliant and observant than I just pointed out that Sam got his haircut cuz he's a nugget now--he and Seelix were both wearing nuggety looking clothing...WTF? I want Sam to be a marine, not another bloody pilot! He is not just Lee 2.0, peoples!
PS: The preview blew my brains apart. I listened to it several times and it sounded like there was a line confirming some of those delicious TWOP spoilers...
