I can see him thinking that he is the only one who can truly protect and love Kara, that his love for her is purer because of his connection to God and the whole destiny thing.
That is exactly what I was going for in the tone and clip choice--Leoben has this whole creepy but sweet protective vibe in his relationship with Kara that the song lyrics describe so well. I'm really glad that came through.
