There are definitely rumors, but I go back and forth on how I think it's going to play out. The producers keep dropping all these hints about a major character whose name will be removed from the credits after episode 3.17 Maelstrom, and all the spoiler pictures of that episode seem to center around Starbuck, so there is a lot of speculation that she will disappear and/or die in this episode.
My personal theory (of the moment--since I change my mind a lot) is that Starbuck is going to disappear or get disconnected from the fleet somehow in her quest-for/discovery of Earth, and everyone will think she is dead, but that she'll show up again later.
That is partially based on tidbits from the producers, and partially based on my faith in the idea that Starbuck is a central and crucial character to the BSG cast/dynamic and they wouldn't get rid of her permanently. Doesn't mean they won't tug at the heart-strings of all the viewers and jerk us around a little first ;)
I, for one, would be pretty much devastated if she really was killed off permanently. I LOVE HER! And I can't imagine the show without her.
