First things first. Any of my TX girls going to Dragon Con this year? And anyone else who's been before--how much did it cost you overall (flight+hotel+random-fannishness)? Still pretty broke from the whole house-buying thing but I'm kind of curious/hopeful.

Secondly, I'm taking a quick break from the usual BSG/SPN/Lost squee you'll find on this channel to do a quick getting-to-know-you/de-lurking thing. Doesn't matter if I just met you or if I see you every week and you are my BFF, I'd still like to get to know you better!

1. Crack vids - It's a chicken and egg thing. Did I start making crackvids BECAUSE I was a crackhead, or did crackvids MAKE me this nuts? I think I was definitely influenced by the first fanvid I ever saw: Closer, which is either crack or slash depending upon how you look at it. And I love videos that manage to combine emotion, amazing visuals AND a wicked sense of humor. But don't just take my word for it; go watch some other pros like deirdre_c, heidi8, anno_superstar, nnaylime or taragel


2. Twitter - I am a fan of the tweets, I'll admit it. The NYT said it best: Each little update — each individual bit of social information — is insignificant on its own, even supremely mundane. But taken together, over time, the little snippets coalesce into a surprisingly sophisticated portrait of your friends’ and family members’ lives, like thousands of dots making a pointillist painting. I really enjoy participating in the minute details of my friends/loved ones lives, especially the ones who live far away and I never see in person anymore. Shit, even my DAD tweets.


3. Starbuck - *sigh* I'm still in love, can't shake it despite season 4's best attempts to squeeze all the badassery out of my girl. Kara Thrace is one of the most amazing, complex and powerful female characters I have ever encountered and Katee Sackhoff just slays me with her gorgeousness.


4. Library - Just graduated from library school in '07 with my masters and I'm still in the throes of job-love. To quote myself on FB: this job is bloody awesome. I come home everyday with great stories for [Mr BQ] of kids/teens/parents I talked to, crazy activities I did, funny books I read, whatever. It’s the best job ever.


5. Young Adult books - I suspect that T picked this one because we first bonded over the insane awesomeness of Hunger Games, but YES, I read a lot of YA lit. It is both the blessing and curse of my job to be surrounded by so many tantalizing books because 1) I have a pretty good heads up on when good stuff is coming out, and 2) I will never ever be able to catch up on my huuuuge to-read list. I'ma keep tryin' though!

1. Can you cook? a little. I'd like to cook more.
2. What was your dream growing up? in 4th grade, I wanted to be an inventor. I came up with this washer (and later on, drier) for individual clothes. I don't think the mechanics would work out, though...but it got me researching patent laws and stuff. Later, I wanted to open my own retail store. I looked up all the "How to start a business" books in the library and was able to give a presentation on it in 7th and 8th grade. Right now I'm majoring Anthropology, and I hope to use those people-studying skills as well as my video camera and editing experience to work in any job that lets me be even a little creative. whoa shoot that was long.
3. What talent do you wish you had? perfect pitch.
