re:Boomer, I get what you're saying. I've never seen her as a manipulator but I definitely think she's bitter, and rightfully so. It seemed totally plausible that she'd abandon Cavil and go back to Galactica. Then WHAM, a doublecross. I go back to the epi where Athena had to commit suicide in order to go back through resurrection and reclaim Hera. Boomer was present and pouty back then about Hera. Maybe she thinks of Hera as hers in some way?
