BSG 4.01: The Awesomeness Cannot Be Contained
1. Friday nights are sooooo much better than Sunday nights because I can watch and squee with buddies. Watching with buddies is sooooo much better than watching by myself!
2. Holy frakking shit that was awesome!
Teh recap:
I think I've officially become as much of an Anders!girl as I am a Kara!girl. When did that happen? I was just as emotionally invested in everything that happened to him and so unbelievably delighted to see his character getting so much plot and attention.
Favorite Sam moments: The eye-scan thing was insane and awesome! The freak-outs with his fellow final fours! The half-hug brush-off from Kara when she got out of her viper just killed me (especially compared to the amazing hug she gave Lee)! And then the gut-wrenching tenderness and pain of the memorial hall scene with Kara where he says he'd still love her as a cylon and she says she wouldn't--gahhhhhhhhhhh!
Also! The little intimate eye glance thing between Lee and Anders when they first realized Kara didn't know how long she'd been gone. IT'S BECAUSE OF THE SEX, PEOPLE. The slashy subtext is still there between them loud and proud!!!
Speaking of Lee: damn he looks good as a civvie! I was thinking I would miss him a flight suit but he looked so good with the scruff and the sweater and it was all just too yummy for words. I loved the scene with him and his dad in the briefing room where they're trying to process how they feel about Kara, and Lee pretty much says he would ALSO love Kara even if she were a cylon. My girl has the bestest boy-toys evar!
Why was Lee allowed to be around for all the important conversations about Kara and the fleet, etc. when he is no longer a military or civilian official? I get why his character was there, because he knows Kara and he witnessed her death, but wouldn't his security clearance have been revoked or something?
And the Lee/Kara vibe was on strong for this whole episode. That hug at the beginning was very intense and intimate and Home-like, and Lee basically pledged his devotion to Kara regardless of her cylon status to his dad and the president.
(How can I be so shippy about both Kara/Anders and Kara/Lee AND Lee/Sam? Oh my OT3, how you like to frak with my brain!)
But WTF is my girl thinking going all rambo on Sam and the guards and charging in on the president with a gun? Bzuh? To be continued=my brain falling out!!!
There are so many little moments that I loved that I'm forgetting about. When Sharon walked up during the Tyrol/Anders peptalk and asked who else Anders would be if not himself. When Tigh freaked out and fantasy-killed Adama. When Baltar prayed for that little kid (votes on whether he knew everyone was listening? I thought he was putting on a show but the Mr and
amaleka_crone but thought it was a genuine prayer...). When Baltar's throat was slit and he was talking in his low sexy Aerilon accent again. When Gaeta got all huffy with Kara. All of Tigh's big-one-eyed 'woah' faces. And so many more that I can't think of!
In conclusion, I love my show to itty bitty pieces and I'm so damn happy it's back on the air!!!

I was saying how despite the serious subject matter, this episode is probably the funniest one they've ever had. Baltar was a frakking hoot!

Hee! I loved that. Suddenly picturing "How to Deal With Being a Cylon 101" taught by Sharon Agathon.
I kind of loved how Kara's all "I need to find Roslin," and Sam's like "You can't! How's that even possible?" and then BAM! She takes down the guards and Sam in the process. Poor Sam. He needs lots of hugs after this ep... and possibly a cookie. He was the one FF who seemed to be having the most trouble accepting himself as a Cylon. And Kara didn't help matters...

Baltar is creepee and I don't like him, I thought it was all staged, he is after all ALWAYS looking out for #1 and I don't think that will ever change. So it was all a show and how lucky for him that kid got better because it served his purpose nicely, Bah!!
I was all set to hate civilian!Lee but damn he did look hot. Maybe it wont be so bad after all. He will be further away from Dee and that is a good thing. I forgot to look for his ring, did you notice it?
I was thinking about how convenient it was to have THREE cylons in on the Adama, 'Anyone could be one' speech. Chief makes sense because of the viper, Tigh I guess, eh he didn't really need to be there, but that's ok. Tory didn't really NEED to be there and Lee had no purpose at all. So that seemed a little staged to me.
I've already watched it twice and I still can't really believe I get to watch 9 more in a row. Sweet!

from hellhome.I almost got in two accidents. Because of the FRAKKING BULLSHIT that is the Texas Relay party on 6th. They had blocked off all of the exits so people were sitting in long lines trying to get back into traffic, because there wasn't ANY warning that the off ramps were closed.
Also, there was the whole 70 to zero traffic stall-age at somewhere around the Dean Keaton exit. Also because of the relay party thing. It smelled like burned rubber for MILES, dude. MILES.
THEN you have drunk thugs going 100, zipping in and out of lanes, and generally being a menace.
At least next Friday it will just be your regular Friday night drunken 6th street crowd. Those assholes I can handle.
AHHHHHHHBSGAWESOMESAUCE!!!!!

I am a fan of the Kara going badass, even though she took out sam too. It still looked really cool.
And on a completely shallow not episode related note...I love that Leoben is back in the beginning cylon credits :)

Anyway, I don't think I have to review now. You said exactly what I would have, esp re: the awesome eye scan, the slashy subtext (in the Sam/Tyrol too?), hotass civvie!Lee, the K/L vibe like in 'Home,' the awesomeness of his blind belief in her, the OT3 goodness, the WTF?Kara. All of it.
So glad it's back. *nods*

And Anders in the viper with the raider *ee* it all scanned him and then Sam's eye blinked red (reminded me of morse code) and then the raider and all the other cylons left. It was so Anders that made them leave. Guess since the raiders and walking toaster aren't verbal they are allowed to know the final 5.
I don't think that Baltar knew the others were awake when he started to pray, as the woke up as he was praying. I think that he was just overcome with self loathing.
It'll be interesting to see the angst the final four of five go through dealing with their secret identities.
Also I think that Kara got to earth, like the original Starbuck did in the original series with those crystal and white people who rescued him and then gave him the knowledge of how to find earth or was it revive him, hmmm
Anyway I think that some entity planted the knowledge in Kara's head. Kinda the wormhole knowledge in Crichton's brain in Farscape. It's buried in her subconscious and she can only interpret it as intuition.
Is it next Friday yet?

A-freaking-men!
I loved all of it. The Baltar stuff. The Final Five Stuff. The Lee and Kara stuff.
I thought Baltar was being genuine. I don't he felt comfortable in the cult at all and was in no way trying to impress anyone.
Kara telling Sam she would shoot him if she thought he was a Cylon hurt my heart. Poor Sam!

It reminded me of how I felt about him when he fell off that Viper, speaking of the slashy subtext, btw. :)
Having said that, I lurved Lee's hug. It had all the uninhibited ferocity of an eight-year-old.
They did keep it rather ambiguous, but I'm being cautiously optimistic that he didn't know they were listening, and it was as genuinely repentant as Baltar is capable of. I'm not sure how much that is yet, even after 3 seasons. But I take the very next scene where he's like Oh really? Well, the kid's not any frakking better, is he? as evidence that it may actually have been genuine, because otherwise, if he was just in stone cold manipulation mode, he would have encouraged SmiteThem!Girl in her "We were all impressed with the way you prayed for Derek, Gaius" thinking.
Btw, did you by any chance think that Miss Smite Them With A Crowbar was made of total crazy religious fervor win, and vaguely reminiscent of Season 1 Head!Six?

Hell yeah! Yay show!
My girl has the bestest boy-toys evar!
Such a lucky bitch she is. That's why I'll love her if she's a Cylon too. :)
wouldn't his security clearance have been revoked or something?
Yeah, don;t know about that one, but I have the feeling they wouldn't have been able to keep him away.
And the Lee/Kara vibe was on strong for this whole episode.
Definitely. *happy sigh*
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! (sorry, I'm finding it difficult still today to contain my glee)
